sonic meditations
The group is to spend a moment being present in our places. listening. noticing. absorbing. respecting. mimicing.
This will be a different experience for each member.
experiencing a place, a sound, being present for more than 10 seconds.
This excercise was to bring together all of our places, our experiences of places. Did something happen telepathetically when we stopped for a moment? Did the world stop too? Did something spiritual, beyond our comprehension happen?
When we stop to care, our world feels less chaotic.
For Georgia, the trees felt larger. More expansive. The wind louder.
For Maddie, the sky appeared greyer. The clouds thicker, weightier.
For Yoria, the drain cradling more life. The trickling of water more significant.
For Lan Anh, a house hold staple like a dishwasher resembled rain. A heavy storm.
For Jonno, the night sky was no longer black. Slowly moving away.
For Eddy, a picture was best to represent the stillness. The deserted footpath.
to share,
to give a part of you away,
to tune in,
to hold the hand of a stranger,
to listen,
to fuse,
to change and be changed,
to learn and know,
to discover and rediscover,
to observe,
to dance and make and enjoy,
to collide and argue and have friction and watch the edges point or not,
to come together.
north williamstown suburbian planting projects; the neighbours come together to garden as a community. On my street we have a neighbourhood garden which people grow seasonal vegetables in. The neighbourhood garden box also teaches the children in the neighbourhood about gardening and nature. The second community project is on the public nature strip where the neighbourhood has replaced all invasive wildlife with natural native wildlife that grows in the wetlands biome.
on care
they say to be loved is to be changed,
i am unsure whether they mean for the better or for the worse.
to care, to be cared for,
to not care, to be careless,
or to care too much, to be too careful,
to care for the land we practise on,
about the environmental aspects of an art practise,
for you to be overly careful and get hurt by those who ignore
it feels so fragile, so vulnerable, but brave,
like hugging a fragile vessel so tight it brakes,
to watch a space die from lack of care,
to heal a space by daring to care,
to care is to put in the thought, but not stop at that,
to put in the good human kind of thinking,
a giving
